Spike “You’re…more a sister or mother figure if anything, Twilight.”
 
Twilight “I…look, Spike, I’m sorry, but we don’t know for certain what exactly the changeling is doing here, but until we can get some information out of it…we’ll need to assume the worst.”
 
Spike “Twilight, wasn’t there that one incident with Trixie when she almost shot herself into a manticore’s mouth–”
 
Twilight “Okay, okay! I admit, that wasn’t my…best moment… _{and I really should’ve given a better apology to Starlight,} but this is a matter of national security here! This is our first interaction with a changeling ever since the wedding, and they weren’t exactly there for cake, Spike!”
 
Spike “But he saved my life!”
 
Twilight “I…I know, and I’m grateful for that. But sometimes, doing good like that, saving ponies’ life…that doesn’t mean that reflects everything about them. Ponies, dragons, all of us, we’re all more complex than that.”
 
The two still in contemplative silence.
 
Shadows wash the room from gently meandering curtain lace.
 
Spike “…Twilight?”
 
Twilight “Yes, Spike?”
 
Spike “Just…just promise me he’ll come out of this all okay?”
 
Twilight “…I promise. On my word, nothing bad will happen to your friend.”
 
The two share a hug.
 
A wearied voice calls out from the doorway.
 
Shining “Twilight.”
 
Spike lets go of Twilight, and after a wave and a sorry look to the baby dragon, she heads off with her brother towards the interrogation room.
 
They’re a ways out from the room before she draws closer to Shining Armor for a brief talk.
 
Twilight “…Shining, before we talk with the changeling, I…I want to make sure you aren’t planning anything…rash.”
 
Shining Armor stops walking. He sighs. A hostile aura begins to gather around him, not made, not seen, but certainly felt.
 
Shining “Yea, I’m mad, okay? It’s…really kind of obvious. And I want to give this pony…this changeling a fair shake, but after all they’d done? At the wedding, Twilight, they took my wife!”
 
Shining Armor looks Twilight dead in the eyes.
 
Shining “She impersonated her. They invaded Canterlot! And I…I just let it all happened.”
 
Shining can’t bare to stand. Twilight comes close and wraps her wing around her dejected brother. An air of guilt surrounds the two.
 
Shining looks up.
 
Shining “…you’ll be there, with me and Cadence. If I do do anything too…rash, could you do me a favor and stop me? Put me in a bubble, teleport me out of the room, anything!”
 
Twilight backs away, wing furled up again on her side.
 
Twilight “Of course, Shiny, but…”
 
Shining stands up, awaiting the rest of Twilight’s thought.
 
Shining “…but what?”
 
Twilight “Maybe…just try and give him the benefit of the doubt? Who knows, he could just be…passing through?”
 
Twilight gives a totally innocuous smile. Shining catches on.
 
Shining “This is for Spike, isn’t it?”
 
Twilight hangs her head a little.
 
Twilight “…yea, it is.”
 
Shining “Then I guess I really should lighten up. Wouldn’t want to disappoint that little dragon now!”
 
Twilight breathes a sigh of relief, and the two share a quick laugh that rather awkwardly subsides.
 
They begin to trot down towards the interrogation room…with a small, purple dragon quietly trailing not far behind, his feet pitter-pat against the smooth crystal floor, feeling that extra bit better than a moment before…
 
(>inb4 teal deer abound. Well, at least you can say you found some good music here…right?)

She did actually. When Tirek released the Mane 6 but not Discord Twilight said to release all her friends.

I’m inclined to agree.

Considering Mane 6 made friends with Discord, which is arguably worse than changelings in terms of abilities… This feels highly hippocritical to me.

Now I’m imagining Seabreeze tearing apart Twi’s suit from the inside.
 
“What-Wh-Who’s inside of me!?”
 
“Eet’s yer conscience! We barely talk!”

I really want to see Spike get hit in the head… Though, I’d imagine it’d not go well for all other Spike fans except me. XD
