Lots of memes just spawn from the most inconsequential things out there, especially if they can easily be employed in conversation and recognized by most observers. For example, a lot of memes that start on 4chan are generally confined there because they are pretty much just inside jokes at that point. It’s not unless they manage to be filtered through lower tiered sites like Reddit and tumblr that they catch on.
However, memes that seem to start in a more public place like YT have the advantage of being detected fastest, though iDubbbz memes are somewhat of an anomaly, because unlike most popular memes they haven’t been killed after 3 days by being on the fucking Ellen Degeneres show and posted by 40-somethings on FB.
I seriously just analyzed the culture of memes like some gay retard. Please kill me.
