They really help add colour to a cast of characters
Huh, thanks for that reminder. I’d completely forgotten about her being a tomboy. They’re always fun characters to have in a show :)
Then you’d probably like Spinelli from the old cartoon show Recess!
Although she’s a kid
Spinelli was pretty much the original “tomboy who doesn’t mind reaching into her girly side every now and then”. A lot of people (at least, those who lived through the 90s and saw the show) seem to forget this!
That, and/or now that she’s finally become a Wonderbolt, she doesn’t have strain herself excessively anymore, so she can take it easy now.
It’s more like she’s always been feminine, just tries to hide it - much like everything else - behind a tough exterior.
The animators, surprisingly, do seem to miss some good opportunities to add blush
