I wouldn’t go as far as to outright call him a saint, but when compared to his wife he appears to be several shades lighter on the morality scale. Than again he could have punished his daughter in FAD solely to stay in good business with the Apple family since she insulted Granny Smith right in front of both of them.

That’s what I’ve always figured.

I get the feeling it’s the later scenario since he seems to be a pretty nice guy from what his small amount of screentime has shown, plus the one time he rightly punished DT for acting up was when he witnessed it first hoof. If he became aware of what Spoiled was teaching DT, he would have most likely gave her the chewing out of a life time since her teachings, in addition to going against his moral principles, would be incredibly toxic to the family business (Who would want to shop at a store who’s owners treat the 99% like shit?).

OP here; don’t presume so quickly. Both interpretations work but when I assembled this I was thinking merely down literal paths…Filthy doesn’t want his daughter to grow up like his wife. The double meaning is obvious though…so take whichever interpretation you like. Two jokes for the price of one.
