Fair enough. The only thing I know about the american south comes from movies so it’s interesting to hear about it from someone who actually lives there. I was lucky, When I gave up religion no one really cared. It was a relief but kinda dissapointing as well.😉

Twilight gasped and had a shocked expression as well I just watched the episode again and yes it is an important holiday but that doesn’t make Twi’s actions any less hypocritical, I’m not upset Starlight joined the fun it looks like a great holiday much better than our Christmas which I really don’t like I would actually celebrate hearths warming and this is such a small detail it barely effects the episode which was very good but it was still pretty hypocritical it doesn’t really hurt anything overall though.

Only Spike really overreacts, being a kid it makes sense, also, Starlight was clearly isolated from pony society for a long time, not knowing who the Wonderbolts were, Hearth’s Warming is obviously an important holiday in such a society, Twilight might also have been worried that Starlight didn’t want to become a part of society, or maybe Twilight thought Starlight forgot the importance of the holiday. It is a holiday that keeps evil at bay, did you forget the first Hearth’s Warming episode where we heard Windigoes after the play was over? Nightmare Night, however is just fun, especially since Nightmare Moon was eliminated, however, Fluttershy doesn’t find it fun, she finds it deathly terrifying. Fluttershy also wasn’t isolated from pony society for who knows how long, unlike Starlight. Twilight did not beg, she just simply asked ‘Do you want to hear my favorite Hearth’s Warming Story?’. Hearth’s Warming would also be a good time for Starlight to have fun and not brood over her actions, in fact, I think this is the first episode where she isn’t complaining about what she did.

Yes I know what the story was about but Twilight uses the importance of the holiday as a way to get her to join. So you have to be afraid of something to not have to take part in it? I didn’t see Twi lecture Fluttershy about not taking part, once she said no that was it they told her she didn’t have to celebrate it twice in fact but Starlight says she has no interest and Twi and Spike make faces like she just killed somebody and then beg her to listen to a story that basically says “this holiday keeps evil at bay and if you don’t like it you’re a scrooge” so of course she was going to say yes after that saying no would make her look bad in front of Twilight.

Fluttershy was afraid of Nightmare Night, while Starlight didn’t care too much about Hearth’s Warming, also, Starlight willingly took part in the ‘lecture’, she willingly decided to give Hearth’s Warming a chance, and Twilight took this chance to tell Starlight a personal favorite story. Also, the episode didn’t say one person not celebrating would destroy Equestria, the episode made it clear that making a spell to make it so no-pony ever celebrated the holiday would destroy Equestria.

Same thing happens when you tell most christians that you’re skipping christmas. They couldn’t care less if you don’t want to celebrate something they aren’t obsessed with, but the moment you try to ditch one of their religious holidays, they flip out.

I like how when Fluttershy doesn’t want to celebrate nightmare night they just accept it but when Starlight doesn’t want to celebrate hearths warming she basically gets a lecture and is told she’s killing ponies by not taking part and I doubt one pony skipping the holiday will do that.

Starlight Glimmer wasn’t just a “stand in” for the Snowfall Frost character in Twilight’s story. The whole point of the episode was Twilight drawing a parallel between Starlight and Snowfall, explaining (through her story) that neither of them understood the meaning of Hearth’s Warming Eve.
 
It was kind of a jerky thing to do when you think about it, considering that Starlight was still kicking herself over the whole “I was a former villain who tried to destroy Equestria” bit. But then, no one ever accused Twilight of being subtle.

It’s an interesting version of a perfect world, but to me it rings with dystopian undercurrents with the Elements and everything else.

She was a stand in for another pony because animation isn’t cheap and designing, rigging and producing a unique character for a single episode is exceptionally pointless, even more so when to prove a point it’s better to just use characters we have a better Idea of in place of blank slates.  
More to a point on the theoretical: why are people proud and supportive of the amount of sheer luck and blind faith that let Equestria exist in the first place? It’s not like they can actually defend themselves in any sense from what we’ve seen.

The only thing Sombra is destroying is Equestria’s army on the battlefield. He is the 7th Panzer Division (Rommel’s legendary Ghost Division) all by himself.

That’s exactly what I thought, “You destroyed the world. AGAIN!”
