But.. it really bugs me how Luna was killed of easily like that. Just to an assassin’s blade like that.  
This is probably bitterness from how the writers handled the sisters in the show, but Luna really got screwed due to not ruling for much long. Its just too tragic really..

They are powerful magic-users who can also fly and are either long-lived or ageless.  
That’s all the difference there is between them and any other pony.
 
Nothing has ever suggested that they’re more difficult to kill than other ponies, save for them using their magic to protect themselves with a barrier or such things, but a successful assassination would imply taking them by surprise or using more sublte means such as poison, for example.
 
While I’m not in favour of stories killing off the princesses (without good reason) the truth is doing so has never been implied to be “impossible” or even more difficult than killing anyone else.

I think people forget that just because you are immortal[ or near immortal], that does not in any way translate into them being invincible. there are weaknesses in everybeing, its just a matter of finding it out and putting that weakness to your advantage.

This whole comic is quintessence of all faux-epic “saga” fan-works with too much timeskips, generations, wars, love, drama, love drama, births and deaths. Falseness and affectation is so thick it’s practically amber.

Why are artists lately so obsessed with killing Luna and Celestia? I know it’s weird, but I’ve actually sorta learned to accept my own death more, because beings I care about will live on. Why would you want to destroy that?

Well we are in an implausible story here.If u consider the lackluster sense of security, innocent naivety of the populace, and the ability of even a basic citizen to buy trinkets of unmeasured power in a back alley thrift store; if someone in that universe had even a sense of murderous intent within their body instead of the TV-Y7 attitude of “hur hur u my prisoner I win”, I’m sure acquiring some sort of poison or Alicorn kryptonite on the black market, slink around a castle unnoticed or disguised as a hoofmaid, and do the deed, it could all be over b4 lunch.

okay then.  
killing off celestia and luna so blatantly makes little sense. they are beings of considerable age, power, and have shown a resistance to harm on several occasions. so there are no means that one can just assassinate them, short of bringing down most of canterlot with them. and definitely not changelings. even chrysalis overpowering celestia was a means of luck and circumstances.  
taking it on like this is clearly a means to artificially create drama.
 
because of that, it greatly detracts from the story if you bother to think on the implications and plausibility of the scenario.
 
Ina ddition, it has directly contradicted statements made by spike at the beginning. With war, assassination, more than likely rainbow dash being maimed or killed, and losing friends to random tragedy and violence, its clear spike would be riddled with regets and has had a terrible life.
 
so it does not make sense as a bit of writing and is in fact contradictory to the story itself, which is a dying spike looking back at his past, saying he has no regrets. and putting in as many regretful things as possible to artificial generate drama.
