That actually is a pretty astute summation of the film.
it tries to get into the metaphysical implications of cartoons becoming real, while also being low brow, slapstick humor. kind of fails at both.
also if not obvious, it’s another deification of woman movie, with all the mooks as revolting little trolls surrounding the one hot girl.
@Lawful Girly
I’ve only seen a trailer for that movie as a child and thought of Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
Is it really that bad? XD

Oh yeah, Heavy Metal was awesome. I skimmed some parts of Rock and Rule online.
Edited
Don’t take my word on it. Every film is worth revisiting, especially after many years.
Hum, maybe I should add Heavy Metal to my Google Play instead of Cool World
Heavy Metal is great, though the Taarna segment goes on a little too long. Rock & Rule and Wizards ar good, too (latter also by Ralph Bakshi)
I just want to see a awesomely dark cartoon world with great atheistics, I’m also tempted to watch Heavy Metal, another movie that I haven’t seen in a long time.
It’s still interesting, just in a more “what could have made this better?” sort of way. Or as Law Abiding Lady said, the aesthetics. That, and going “Gosh, Brad Pitt is really young here.”
It’s been quite a few years since I have seen Cool World, so I mostly remember the good parts of the movie, what I really want to get from watching it again, is the awesome dark atmosphere of the cartoon world.
Still worth it just for the aesthetics.
Be warned, it’s still bad, even with nostalgia googles activated.
One of these days I have to watch that movie again.
