From my point of view, if something professionally designed could be easily reproduced by yourself and you haven’t received some kind of professional training on the subject, the people who made it clearly haven’t done their job right.
 
I shudder to think how much they paid the people in charge of designing Windows 10. Or maybe they didn’t, and that’s why it’s so flat and boring. Actually, it would also explain why it’s free.
 
It’s like it is with art. If I see a picture and I’m like, “I could do something of that calibre,” then I’m not going to hold it in high regard. Like art which takes zero effort and no artistic vision to create.

Meh, was never a fan of the glossy look. I don’t know what it is, it just doesn’t look good honestly.  
I mean, yeah, I get that they were trying to go for an actual “Window” style, but I don’t care for it.  
Also, I highly disagree on the Windows 10 look. It’s perfect in my opinion. I mean, I may be biased, but I love flat designs and I think it works.

Windows XP is dated. Windows 7 still looks fine. And yes, I like modern, minimalistic style as much as the next guy, but for Windows 10 they were just so lazy. Like… I look at the graphics, and I think, “I could do that in Photoshop in like 10 minutes.” Like, would it have killed them to put a subtle gradient here, a drop shadow here, or a rounded edge there? It’s all just flat rectangles and it looks so boring!!
 
Moreover, the colours are all just grey with a bit of blue. If they’d done some nice colour co-ordination, it would have looked so much better even with the flat rectangles.
 
No, I take that back. The flat rectangles would still be inexcusable.
 
Now, look at Windows 7. When you hover over the Start button, it does a little glowy thing. When you hover over icons on the taskbar, they do a little glowy thing too. All the windows have neat transparent edges and a subtle reflection effect. And they have drop shadows too!
 
But Windows 10 is basically solid grey and blue rectangles cut out of a grid with 20 * 20 pixel units. Modernistic minimalism can and has been done so much better. And this is Microsoft we’re talking about, so it’s not like they were on a tiny budget. And if they were, then that was pretty stupid of them.

I’m not really a fan of the dated UI with raised and 3D visual elements used in Windows 7. I prefer the modern flat and minimalistic design.

Woah, what’s with all the Linux hate? I get that many of its users are colossal jerks dissing other people’s OSs’ but it’s a solid platform worthy of giving it a go. There’s a bit of a learning curve, but it’s not as geeky as it may seem and after a year of using it I felt fairly capable of handling all major aspects of its administration.

well i use the pirated version, but i think i am not going to downgrade it when i got new laptop when it come with 10, but for my old laptop it going be forever 8.1, and honestly this laptop is aging and the GPU is already broken so i only left with the Intel HD Graphic, luckily i am not a gamer, so most of my time spend on watching Documentaries and cartoons that i got from torrenting.

I already use the linux, and honestly i find it very hard to use it, probably i using windows alot, also i hear someone really complaining about the BSoD in win 8, and for a year of my experience with it only happen when i install my GPU drive on it, probably because it not compatible, while i currently on windows 8.1, i am not going to upgrade to 10 anytime soon because i can’t torrenting in 10.

Why are we discussing the merits of OSs in this image’s comments section? Wouldn’t this sort of thing be better suited for a forum post or something?

Step down off of your high horse. I have no idea what you are referring by mentioning the picture above. Having used a couple different Linux distributions (Ubuntu and Mint), I can confirm that prompts do exist in your world. Could you have been mentioning the crashes? I wouldn’t expect you to know that those aren’t common. I’m sure the <2% of you are obsessive about every single thing going on in your OS.
 
Why is not surprising to me that you are one of the people that block sources of revenue for companies on the internet? Have you actually even done any research on what Telemetry in Windows is used for? You go ahead and enjoy using your open-source platform that always misses out on support from the bigwigs of the tech world.

What OS are you using that has a big ad on the lock screen? Because I sure have never seen an ad on my Windows 10 lock screen.  
Also, don’t bullshit me with that “Windows is ridden with viruses” Every OS can get viruses, if the user is stupid enough to click on a suspicious link and/or doesn’t know how to use antivirus software.  
Thirdly, ease of use is entirely subjective to me. Windows is easy to use because I’ve used it for so long. I’m sure I would say the same about OS X if I used it exclusively for all my computing needs.  
And as for Microsoft controlling your systems, also Bullshit. You’re no more likely to get spied on and tracked on Windows 10 and 8 then XP, which is in my opinion, an outdated garbage OS.

Enjoy your Spyware ridden, “Portal” to all things MicroSoft then. Along with all the other nasty bits that usually come with running Windows… (See Pic above!). Some of us would still prefer retaining 100% control over our Systems. Instead of just handing off the responsability to someone else, who only have their best intrests at heart.
 
Full Screen Ads on the Lock Screen? From someone so pro ad blocking as I? The fact that thse bastards backported all the Telemity BS back to Win 7, 8, 8.x just ‘cause. Yeah keep telling yourself all that MicroSoft is simple to use. Ultimtly it’ll be MicroSoft, and its Devs (i.e. Epic Games), that will pull the rug out from under you.

Exactly. Microsoft Windows is the king when it comes to ease of use and compatibility. There are tons of people that just want something that works and doesn’t require special assistance when something goes wrong.

I’m willing to bet y’all have an inexpensive and reliable car, something Japanese. Why? The average person wants a car they can think about as little as possible. Holding to your thought process, you should only have a car you built from the ground up.

I know all about the controversy the Universal Windows Platform. Do you really think that will be enough to knock Windows out of first place? Most likely not going to happen but only time will tell.

Notice to all the Musterd Race… MicroSoft have pretty much gone on record has having stated that WIN32 (i.e. Native Windows Apps for x86-64), are due for the chop. When exactly? Well that’s anyones guess. But they want to replace this with something called UWP (Universal Windows Platform).
 
So why should you care? TBF, it wont be your problem (as such), but if you a Devloper it will mean that you either have to pay MicroSoft additional costs to use UWP, and sacrifice an addtional 30% for the publishing to their Appstore. Of course any Dev is welcome to tell M$ to go fourth, and multiply. At the risk of having a more craptacular product. Since UWP will otherwise be a closed enviroment, al-la like is the case with say the xbone(er). Yes, Windows as you currenty ‘love it’ IS OVER!
 
So don’t diss on Linux… ‘Cause it’ not only coming into its own on Mobile cough Android cough. MicroSoft are gonna push most of thsoe Devs away at this point. And, then theres AMD/ATi / nVidia to think about. I don’t think that they’re gonna let MicroSoft wreck their Biilllllion Dolar industy just get flushed away like a Creative Labs.
