How’s about the six other Wondercolts who were participating in the Friendship Game? Flash, Bon Bon, Lyra, Derpy, and then the nerd and hippie guy whose names I forget. Even gender balance, and if you assume the last two guys are a unicorn and earth pony it’s an even racial balance too. Plus since they’ve actually been associated together as a group of since there’s a little bit of basis for them.
 
Besides, Trixie in Equestria Girls actually has two canonical friends in Fuchsia Blush and Lavender Lace, you can’t throw her in a new (Hu)Mane 6 without including those two!

Don’t feel bad everybody has the right to have their own idea.

Derpy could replace Pinkie. She holds the power of the unexpected. And we all know about Murphy’s Law, don’t we? Octavia could replace Rarity, as she has the power of “I’m high class, dammnit!” DJ might be a good replacement for Applejack, as she could have all-night parties and that’s harder on the staff then it is on the revelers. She may not have superstrength, but the main power a rock star needs is unbelievable stamina. And that nothing they can drink or take can manage to kill them. Lyra and Bonbon are sort of unknowns but they can fill in for Fluttershy and Rainbowdash easily. Lyra probably gardens and the background pony ep hinted that Bonbon might have had police academy training. (or is just a big liar!) As for Twilight, replace her with Trixie, who likely managed to go to the effort to steal her power and struggles to avoid being caught by it’s true owner, instead of “whoops, I’m an allicorn, make with the confetti.”

Even though they’re not ponies here, it’s still imbalanced. You have one Pegasus, two Earth Ponies and three Unicorns. You need to swap out Trixie for maybe Blossomforth or one of the other Pegasi.

While I love Trixie, I think the Doctor works better here: He adds a male to the mix, he has a relation to Derpy, and He’s a background pony.

So Trixie the proxy for the Doc?
