Yeah, back when that design first showed up, most of the fandom hated it. Pound and Pumpkin were slightly better received since they’re more expressive, but I’m pretty sure the current complaints about Flurry’s appearance come from an inherent resistance to change, not from people thinking it looks bad on its own.

I actually hope they do change the cake twins or make them age a little. It wouldn’t make sense for them to still be infants when they were introduced all the way back in season two before Shining Armor and Cadence were even married.
Probably the only reason they haven’t updated Pound and Pumpkin Cake to match is that those two have been around long enough that such a dramatic shift in their character design would be too jarring.
