@Cirrus Light
Going to be honest, I don’t really see Equestria as some “everyone always gets along, everyone always agrees” utopia. I think some ponies are capable of being jerks like anyone.
@Crystal Neighybánya
They’re actually really rare. “Putting Your Hoof Down” was really a fluke. It’s like a data scatter in what’s otherwise pretty consistent…
I mean, if you think about it, that episode was also a fluke with Fluttershy, since she was a jerk there, too.
Ever have a day where it seems there’s a theme to everything? That reminds me of one day where everyone just seemed randomly very angry. I can’t help but think it was some chain reaction of everyone making everyone else upset with their upset-ness.
@Scrounge
She did growl at Fluttershy in the comic book series, (2013 Annual issue) But regardless she doesn’t seem that mean to me either. She & Spoon even grin cutesy half the time.
@Crystal Neighybánya
Based off of what she said about friendship magic strengthening Equestria, and all the threats about to destroy it at any moment, it seems like generating any kind of spite or ill feelings would be a serious threat to the nation :q
@Cirrus Light
Unfortunately, it seems as though Equestria doesn’t agree with my worldview, otherwise Starlight Glimmer would’ve been punished instead of being let off the hook because “friendship!”
I have never questioned Celestia and Luna’s kindness; what I have questioned is the idea that ponykind as a whole is nicer or more moral than humanity.
@Crystal Neighybánya
Tons of people hate Bieber for the same reason that they’ve hated every boy idol since the 90s: they’re living embodiments of everything that’s wrong with the pop industry, and they have millions of fans whose love for them has nothing to do with their shallow, vapid songs.
@youregoingtoloveme
Human Dash and Human Fluttershy’s lives still probably mirror those of their equine counterparts better than Principal Celestia and Vice Principal Luna’s do. ;)
I think if she sang poorly, the CMC would have stepped in to help her sooner, because that would get her to stop singing. And let’s be honest, if they hated bad singers that much, they’d have disowned each other after “Show Stoppers”. XD
@Crystal Neighybánya
I have no answer for that question (not because I don’t have one) but in a perfect world, The Beib would offer to do a guest voice for MLP and the producers would tell him “no thanks”.
@Scrounge
I too have taken into account that human versions have experienced difference life changing events from their counterparts. Human Dash and Human Fluttershy never went through Hurricane Fluttershy for obvious reasons. X)
I am on board with you on your other point, too. Just think: If Diamond Tiara sang like ass, the CMC might not have been so keen on forgiving/helping her. Singing ability does change one’s perception of a character.
@Crystal Neighybánya
I actually kinda had that headcanon, but it only applied on a one-to-one basis, i.e. Human Rainbow Dash is not quite as good a person as her Pegasus counterpart, but the pony version of, for example, Suri Polomare is still way worse than human Dashie.
But I had to give it up because the human version of Diamond Tiara just hung out in the background and never bullied anyone. (This was obviously before CotLM.) So I just gave up and now I just go with them not automatically being the same, which I think might be actually canon.
@Crystal Neighybánya
I’m pretty sure the diamond dogs are nicer than Spoiled Rich. Heck, even Flim and Flam are… Well, no, actually, they’re terrible too, but at least they do a good song and dance.
@Crystal Neighybánya
Like that one YouTube video of a pelican that eats a pigeon out of the blue. Or the one where a deer eats a bird. Actually, there are two different videos of a deer eating a bird. Just when you think you’re safe from predators, a frickin’ deer comes along and chows down on you.
@Crystal Neighybánya
I guess them being in what appears as and strives to be a positive world, the bad ones are always put down as a minority that should never represent all of them.
@Beau Skunky
I never understood the “ponies are nicer than humans” headcanon. If ponies like Glimmer are any indication, then ponies can be just as power hungry, manipulative, cruel and vindictive as humans (within the confines of a G rating, of course).
@Crystal Neighybánya
Dunno, “Putting Your Hoof Down” showed some others are kinda jerky too.
Ponyville doesn’t seem to be the romanticized utopia some fans think it is. (And of course it gets attacked by monsters occasionally.)
