That’s because despite the fact that nobody respects ip laws for Hasbro, the site respects non-existent (social contract) ip laws for fan art :p
Agreed. I appreciate and respect their creativety, sure…but we live in a world with bullshit IP laws that do the opposite of what they intend, and fan-creators claiming more socio-legal protections for derived works than the originator of said works is pretty egregious IMHO.
I find it absolutely absurd that it’s easier to archive episodes of MLP on the web than it is to archive MLP fanart on the web. You’d think it would be the other way round…
@Cirrus Light
Can we, like, not start this again?
Yeah, it’s also why I really can’t take it all that seriously when people are really possessive over derivative works or publications of fanart pieces.
I’m fairly certain bgp was being sarcastic.
Seriously guys, just stop it already. I know dramas are part of this fandom, and I’m gonna admit that I like myself some dramas, but come on, bashing a guy over and over for a long time is unhealthy, okay?
@Background Pony #A253
Ehck. What bothers me is a whole bunch of these fools get together and Drawponies gets some serious hate and retribution to a completely inordinate degree.
Sometimes people like to pick on someone else to make themselves feel superior.
It’s anon you can’t take him seriously.
Ah, so

Okay, if you say so.
But really, are you just trolling or legitimately that ignorant?
As for your second little retort: that’s called using a citation. It’s done all the time in science and engineering.
Yes, and people who vector shouldn’t be allowed to use the artist tag.
No, it’s more like getting mad at somebody for reading the answer from a key instead of doing the calculation.
Ooooh, no wonder its scandalous. :O

your current filter.I read that as “what a scandal” and laughed then I read it properly.
Drawponies traced his art and sold it that’s about it.
What we talked about earlier: When Drawponies was accused of tracing his art while making money off of it and got bashed horribly for it. He let out a public apology afterwards.
What scandal?
I’ve got two shirts myself, and this was two years before the scandal was a thing XD
I guess there’s also something to be said about Hasbro’s IP and the, well, direct usage of it and barely, if at all being derivative work.
But hey, customer satisfaction.
To be frank, I haven’t cared about Drawponies since I found him a few years back and still haven’t cared since.
hopefully people don’t start rekindling drama and blow up my notifications
@wenni
That may be a line he crossed, but it’s a very blurry and vague one, as far as I’m aware. I’ve got a drawponies mousepad. Don’t give a flying feather whether it was traced or not. If it was, good on him for saving time and making it look better. It doesn’t change how it looks at all. If anything, it looks a bit better, and I’m not complaining about that.
I’m sure there’s more to the story than that. I was under the impression that he was charging money for traces.
I’m more angry at OP right now for a plethora of reasons, honestly
I think folks are only getting mad because he’s making money off of it.
But you raise good points either way.
