At first I thought this was going to not just be some ads, but be an actual little series or something… The animation… It’s very rare for me to like 3d. 2d is infinitely better IMO. 3d is almost always uncanny for me. And this…

White voice actors, so I’ve always pictured them all as white, it’d be really weird to me if any of them weren’t. Grew up in Alabama where it’s very rare to find a black person who doesn’t have a noticably different voice.

I didn’t even notice she wasn’t pink until you guys pointed it out. What kinda bothers me though, is that her eyes are so low on her face - where her cheeks should be, I’d say. Not that it stops me from enjoying the short and wanting more.

Big Macintosh is a bit weird, but they might’ve changed him to avoid being perceived as depicting an outdated Native American stereotype (i.e. a human with literal red skin, like in an old-timey catoon). I don’t think too many people would have perceived it that way, and I certainly wouldn’t have, but after the Derpy fiasco, they were probably just playing it safe.
 
So nah, I still think any of the ponies could conceivably be any ethnicity in human form, and - in a series that uses realistic skin tones - do find it more realistic to have diversity. Especially since the Equestria Girls setting is pretty analogous to America/Canada based on the accents and locale, and all - which have generally had pretty mixed populations. Just my take on it though, which is why I think it’d be really odd if they just made them all white. (Or, again, all any other ethnicity.)

See the thing is, even the Doug Funny colors of the movies refused to have dark colors, as characters like Big Mac and Luna (specially Luna) went through the bleacher for their designs, so there’s already precedent for making everyone white even when it would’ve been just fine if they kept the original colors.

I do think it’d be a little suspect if every humanization ends up being white, though. Nothing I’d hate the show over, but I do think it’d be missing an opportunity to showcase the diverse group of friends that the ponies are (who, in the show, make up three different pony “races,” if you will).
 
It’s more realistic to have a little color in the group. And yeah, if they were all black, or all Asian, etc., well, that’d be odd too. A mixed-race group just makes the most sense to me. So if they’re going with real-human skin tones, well… We’ll just have to see how they end up handling the rest, won’t we?

I can’t believe they’d use a 3D animation style similar to SFM…

I’ll be honest, the figures don’t look half bad. However, animating them is… a little creepy. Especially when you start with a pony that obviously has had more than the recommended serving size of Red Bull garnished with Uranium.

Her skin tone looks “normal” but its more that it is less saturated than her normal EQG colors, but the coloring IS there.

I don’t think they are going to use actual skin colors. They would start a huge controversy if they did. People would freak out if a character was black because that’s not how that person wanted them to be, same with any skin color. This seems to have been made by a third party albeit with an official voice, so it might have been a mistake to use use real skin colors. Even the figures this is advertising for use the EqG colors, I think.
