“When discussing the Griffons of Griffonstone, it is of importance to make the distinction between the griffons inhabiting the cities and high valleys of the Silver Mountains and the pastoral nomadic tribes living on the windswept plains beyond. It is a harsh land, bordered by Saddle Arabia in the south and the Great Steppes in the east, and it breeds a harsh people. Yet for all their grim demeanour and firce pride, they remain griffons at heart; noble of spirit and loyal to those they consider their friends and allies.”
