WWII was total war. It’s pretty much the definition. I’m not sure why you think Celestial would place the age of recruitment 4 or so years younger than Literal Hitler.

Towards the end of World War 2, Nazi Germany were accepting recruits as young as 16 years old.
 
Also, one of the scenes shows ponies boarding a train. In there is a very young looking filly.
 
In a total war like this? I foresee them conscripting young ponies not even into adulthood yet.

Doubtful since she has no in-town friends. We also only know that Scootaloo knows Sweetiebelle, but beyond that, we have no idea where she is from.

Scootaloo survives multiple apocalypse-level events in FIMfics. There’s no way a simple war between the Crystal Empire and Equestria could do her in :O

What makes you think that her time in the army is what caused her injuries? She was paralyzed mid-flight as a filly.

I find this idea much more viable, since during Spike’s rampage, the wonderbolts were the first reaction squad. I imagine they were lost earlier on and RD moved to the front of the ranks since then.

Completely possible. There is nothing stating that Sombra took slaves beyond the crystal ponies, nor anything stating he didn’t just outright massacre any and all opposition, innocent or not.
 
Pinkie and Maud are in the army, RD has been in the army long enough to have lost a wing and nearly lose her eye, the Apples industrialized the farm (and most likely Granny passed), even Celestia is spending most of her time in the battlefield.
 
I would not put the idea of youngsters being massacred outside the realm of thought.
