Judging that it is on the wiki, I would say it’s just one of those animation smears.
jeez, you really are preemptively asking people not to argue on like every single image from this episode.
I guess so.
I feel like that was the reason this was uploaded. Not to cause arguments
yeah, sorry about that. Also, you’re right, this one DOES look weird.
Also, I don’t even like reading criticism comments in image threads even in episodes I don’t like. 99.9% of the reason I come to Derpibooru is to look at the art and screenshots.
Now, back on task: Twilight’s face just looks weird here.
I thought about sending this as a message, but I think it’s more useful here:
Dude, you’re bringing it upon yourself when you keep mentioning that you hope no one criticizes the episode. Honestly, so what?! You saying something isn’t going to stop anyone, and as I’ve seen in other threads just tends to invite it. Don’t mention criticism. And if someone does criticize it, you don’t have to reply. It’s not up to you to defend the show. The fandom will go on without you responding to every comment you don’t agree with.
Other people’s opinions should never impact your own enjoyment. Other people’s opinions are also just as valid as your own. If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that everyone’s opinions are just as genuine as anyone else’s. You can basically get a wide set of reactions from the same set of criteria. It’s all up to personal interpretation, and that varies depending on what a person knows, their life experience, and what sort of reasoning they use. Someone can also have similar life experiences, and situations have may have turned out very differently for them. It all means that everyone’s going to have their own, unique interpretation, and no single interpretation is “right” nor “better” than any other interpretation.
I’m here because I love the show. Most of the time, the episodes are fun. They at least get me to smile. Good episodes make me chuckle (or tug at my heartstrings), fantastic episodes have me laughing out loud or shedding tears, or just really feeling it. It is really disappointing for me when I don’t enjoy an episode, but it happens. I want to love them all, but not all of them really work for me. That’s OK.
When I watched the episode, I felt that the jokes were unfunny. Parts of the episode were outright tedious, and the ending felt completely disingenuous. I’m not convinced that Twilight’s friends would just “hang out” with Discord. I ended up feeling really annoyed. That is how I feel. (No amount of discussion will change that. I can try to explain it, but most of the time people really don’t actually care to really take the time to understand anyone else’s viewpoint.)
Now, here’s the really important part: what I feel shouldn’t matter to you. I know that when I enjoy an episode and other people don’t, it’s super annoying to read that spam all over every image. I don’t feel it’s necessary to reiterate the same thing on every image for this very reason. You tend to reiterate your fear on every image, which is honestly just as annoying as someone constantly complaining about the episode.
prays in hopes no one lashes out and starts criticizing
