I am a person watching the behavior of a person or character. That is what gives me the right to judge how they react. Proper judgement of the potential reactions of potential allies and mates to various stressors is a survival instinct. In modern times, it is a judge of character. Someone who reacts poorly to such a trivial inconvenience is not a good person to be around in general. Worse to have as a leader of any sort.

Oh yeah. Because her friends weren’t making her feel left out at all during any point in the episode. And, she’d be perfectly okay with it if they were.

Yeah, sorry, I don’t feel the least bit of sympathy for Twilight here. She unwittingly sacrificed one good time for another. Oh, how my heart just bleeds for her.

Twilight and her first world problems.

I love how Spike just GTFOs out of there.

It’s a terrible drug, friendship- completely destroys your priorities and your sense of perspective. Thank God I never got hooked on it.

This heavily reminded me of Moondancer’s rant. For a second there, Twilight really sounded like she was about to start sobbing her eyes out like Moondancer did before she composed herself.
 
Though it was sad to see Twilight in tears over being left out, I can see Discord’s point… While he was a bit of a jerk about it, he was correct in his reasoning that Twilight needed to learn that she’s not always going to be able to share every moment with her friends, and that it’s OK to feel jealous or left out if she needs to.

I think that’s the best part about this show: that every lesson it teaches can be analyzed, discussed and expanded on by the fans.

As a matter of fact…The more I think about it…This episode really tackles an issue that some people might have with Twilight’s role in the show.
 
She’s supposed to be the Princess of Friendship, but ever since she was a child, she wasn’t exactly the friendliest pony. She has grown up with antisocial tendencies. And, she still struggles with some quirks that tend to create awkwardness and problems among friends. However, once you stick with her, you realize she doesn’t actively try to be that way. She wants to be friendly. She is nice. You can talk to her. She can help others. She can be a great friend. But, sometimes she can’t help it. She can’t change who she is. In this episode, she realized that her nature can compromise what she is supposed to stand for. She holed herself up in a library all weekend instead of having a typical social experience that would make her better as the representative of friendship. And, she tried to deny it. Thought she could just recreate the experience or blame it all on Discord (He was a jerk, but she was not handling it well). But, her friends helped her realize that it’s okay to not be the ‘Princess of Friendship’ all the time. They will always be her friends. It’s okay to feel jealous or frustrated with your friends. That friends can get on your nerves or have experiences while you decide to do your own thing. It’s all how you handle it, together.
 
At least, that’s what I’m getting out of my thoughts on this episode. As someone who can highly relate.

I’m pretty sure it was intentional, but was anyone else reminded of Moondancer’s rant?

You know, I mainly watched this episode for Discord… But looking at this scene again, and noticing the tears in Twilight’s eyes this time around, I realize this episode also had its emotional moments that I happen to relate to… I know what it’s like to feel left out so I really felt for Twilight here. I also appreciate the message this episode brings up that it’s okay to feel jealous as long as you recognize it rather than cover it up.
 
Whatever the case, I like that it still ended happily for everyone.
