They’re not just included, 4chan is the birthplace of the fandom. It was because of a thread on /co/ that started the niche following. And then the images started to slowly flood the board, and then there was the great purge of pony content from all of /co/, then the ban-hammers started coming in from /b/, but by then there were websites and other forums dedicated to the show.
…And the rest was history.

It was 4chan mostly, but they can be included in the fandom. It started as doing hurtful things charts based on an anime chart, and then people started making reverse versions where everything’s positive instead of negative. Then people outside 4chan started making them and the meme exploded.
