Well she does have a bit of trouble learning stuff, but as we all learned her retention and recall is pretty phenomenal once the information actually sinks in.
Not that she really needs to be clever for this part. Even she can see the writing on what used to be the wall.

You know what. RD might think she’s not the most clever or educated pony around, but she seems to underestimate herself. I’ve often hear her use pretty clever sentences and she has a good feeling for word play (not counting her trying to rap). Mostly in the latest seasons.
