Elizabeth Banks as Rita Repulsa looks like she’s a fusion of Queen Hedrian (from Denziman) and Mele (from Gekiranger)…

Ironically, Queen Hedrian was also played by Machiko Soga, who would later play Bandora in Zyuranger, and thus Rita in season 1 of MMPR.

As long as they don’t try to make her more ‘badass’ by having her personally fight with the Rangers (no doubt using a whip of some sort), I’m fine with the design.
 
To clarify, I mean her actually fighting as in trading punches, as opposed to throwing energy bolts at them the way Bandora did in Zyuranger. That, I don’t mind.

Is it weird for you too? I’m so used to seeing Gavan as this experienced, legendary veteran that seeing him when he was just starting out is really jarring.

I’ve never seen the recent Gavan stuff. (I never got around to watching it back when they initially came out, And now I hear that most of the new material isn’t very good)

Actually, most people have told me that the “New Generation” Space Sheriff movies (Gavan, Sharivan, and Shaider) are actually REALLY good. Or at least Sharivan and Shaider’s “New Generation” movies are considered really good. Gavan’s movie has a bit more of a mixed reception.

According to TV Tropes’s Trivia page for Gekiranger, it was originally going to be based around the Chinese Zodiac, much like Dairanger. Supposedly, this concept had a Black Ranger with a snake-themed mecha, which would later get used as Gosei Black in Goseiger along with many other Dairanger-esque elements that were originally going to be in Gekiranger.
 
Of course, since this is TV Tropes, I can’t find a source for it. Does anyone have a source confirming or denying this?

I never heard a rumor like that. However, the second villain group in Gekiranger was based on the chinese zodiac.

He was known almost right out of the gate, around the same time the show started we got the official word on him.

I wonder how Lost and Found in translation even happened. (I don’t think there was much a sentai fandom back in 2004, If at all)

I mean, I guess there would have been people who just watched the raws or something. (I’ve heard that Nihon’s Dekaranger was the point for the first real Sentai boom)

 
articulation is OK but the missing foot really bothers me so I’m going to choose between two options (dancouga has better articulation but feels unaligned due to the ball joint while the giant robo feet has better stability at the expense of articulation (the ‘dust covers’ are in the way).

Have you guys heard about Ultraman Orb?
 
Apparently it’s the 50th anniversary show. (Orb has the power to become mashups of Showa and Heisei ultras)
