But now that G5 is kind of over I think soon I’ll watch MYM and try to finish tell TYT. Some day not now. I got other media to consume.

I think the IDW crossover with Transformers was pretty barebones.
The interactions are just basic enough to be entertaining but I still believe there was potential for way more.
And sure, is just a silly crossover, but I still think it has potential.

The G1/G4 (+Minty) crossover wasn’t very good, and the only good parts had nothing to do with the crossover.
The G4/G5 “crossover” was…okay, but despite being advertised as such, it wasn’t even really a crossover.

I still think the second part had a lot more substance to it, with a lot more team ups and characters that made things more interesting(team ups with the Decepticons, more characters from different continuities, especially Knockout being involved)

I dare to say the Transformers got a bit of the short end of the stick as I don’t think they shine enough compared to the MLP characters.
A longer run could have helped as well as a build up of a general threat. Maybe is just me but ehh.

Although I’ve not heard anything yet about fans animating the leaked TYT episodes (delighted as I would be to see that) with only the second special and two episodes that weren’t released being animated before the show got canceled, good to know. For the second special though, I strongly recommend the restored edition that can be found here.

In hindsight, many theories of MLP often have a tendency to make tragedy out of things that might not have been intended to be tragic.
For example, Scootaloo being an orphan.
Before the confirmation of their parents, it was common to say she was an orphan under grounds that she has no parents onscreen.
This is what I imagine it happen:

- Her parents never appear.
- Applejack is implied to have deceased parents.
- At no point her family appears likely because they had an accident.
- The episodes never highlight her home…maybe she has no home.
- The tragedy of not being able to flight…maybe she kinda lost them in an accident.
And then, there’s the Occam’s razor explanation.
- Her parents never appear.
- The show runs on limited time and many families have appeared without often having anything important to do.
- Many other characters didn’t showcased their families either probably because is not important.
- Maybe her family just isn’t relevant to the show…at least not yet, so that’s why they never appear.
It tragicomical how many weird theories come from extrapolating weird things. I find it can be rather absurd.

Like how the one timberwolf scene in SAYS led to so many people thinking AJ’s parents were killed by one. Honestly one of my biggest peeves about the fandom, if not the biggest, even moreso than people using “plot” instead of “curple”.

We always have to be in denial of the fact that MLP was never intended to be anything that complex, one of my favorite things about this fandom. Although it isn’t a problem exclusive to this fandom, people not realizing that “dark, serious, and edgy” =/= “complex”.

The problem is that it seems overtly dramatic quite often. Once you give people sweet dramatic words, it becomes “truth” rather than a headcanon, you don’t need something convincing, you only need to use something fancy to make it look plausible.

Tragedy is in fact straightforward if you think about it. Add a tragic backstory and now you can define the character completely, at least that’s how many people think a character works.
