Sonic Unleashed really didn’t have the same mechanics as the Adventure series though.

Admittedly, I’d love a new Sonic Adventure 3, a real one. Maybe even bring back the chao gardens, and give them online features.

I never found the Chao Gardens interesting. More like boring and overrated.

To each their own. I kinda miss ’em.
BTW Sonic Advance 1, and the GBA version of Chu-Chu Rocket are out on the Japanese WiiU Virtual Console now.

…well, they were a huge improvement over the system incorporated into NiGHTS; if they had made a proper follow-up to SA2 over a decade ago, they probably could’ve made the envy of the industry, but I sure as hell don’t expect modern day SEGA to do anything but ruin it.
@Sono
Yeah, but Sonic Unleash was originally conceived as SA3.
…sorta like how SA was originally conceived as Sonic RPG…

Hey, I like that game.
@HighRollerHydra
Why not? Handheld games are just as relavent as any console or PC game. Heck Pokémon started out as a handheld.

Yeah, well, so did Kirby, but they’re altogether different beasts from Sonic (in more ways than one).
Not only was Sonic born on a console, but he was essentially genetically engineered for that console; the whole point of his existence was to make Mario and his respective console look like pussies, plus SEGA has always put consoles before handhelds (while SEGA might have been a worthy adversary in the living room and especially the arcade, Nintendo has dominated the handheld market unchallenged since before they were even a thing).

Regardless, I think the portable games deserve marit too, even the Game Gear ones. (Tails Adventure rules.) I don’t understand the logic in excluding or ignoring them just ‘cause they aren’t on a TV. They’re still official games, and even the comic canon regards/adapts characters & storylines from them.
In fact, many fans & game critics feel the portable Sonic games from the past 15 years were better then the console games. Even the 3DS version of Sonic Boom was more accepted then the WiiU one.

Handheld games don’t get as much love as console, since they’re…well…not exactly pretty. Look at Sonic G or whatever that was.

I got to disagree as some have good graphics. Heck, the Sonic Advance trilogy has some of the best 2D graphics in the series IMO.

WHAT
Chao Gardens thooooooo
I love them because it’s basically like Pokemon that doesn’t suck - the whole aspect isn’t some kind of incredibly light RPG that gets all of the gameplay and attention and therefore gets dull quickly, instead it’s some incredibly light RPG that’s just the icing on the cake to the normal Adventure style gameplay. Complementary to it, kind of like a garnish on the dish instead of the whole meal. You can get the Chao to look all kinds of different ways, have multiple Chao to take care of, name them, increase their stats through various ways, etc., but at the same time you do this by going back and playing various levels of your choice and getting the little Chaos Drives or Animals for them to…kind of suck the soul out of, I guess.
Basically I like it for being a more involved version of Pokemon that’s just a garnish on top of the normal gameplay in the Adventure Games

I honestly only ever used the Chao Gardens just to get those last emblems, otherwise I’d never even bother.

>Tfw you can’t look up anything about Freedom Planet without seeing some butthurt ex-sonicfag say it’s “better than anything sega made”
Better than 06 and 4: Episode 1 without a doubt.
Arguably better than the Adventure games.
About as good as most of the Recent Sonic games on Steam (Generations, 4: Episode 2, Lost World), though, wouldn’t say better, especially since only two out of those 3 games have anything to do with Freedom Planet’s gameplay in any way.

This is a huge pet peeve
Lilac’s gameplay is somewhat Sonic-y, but still required use of a combat system that you’d see in side-scrolling beat ‘em ups and has a health meter instead of the traditional rings system. Carol and Milla don’t have anything Sonic-y at all.
If less than 1/3 of something is like what it’s being held up against, how can they be honestly compared?
