Madonna I can kind of see, for a similar reason with guys like Prince. Their impact on music as a whole, regardless of genre. However, that should be a rarity, and you’re right that it seems outside genre bands are becoming more frequent inductees.

I would actually consider Prince to be rock, or at least a sub-genre of it.

I keep on hearing about them but never bothered with them. Havent bothered too much with Black Metal recently but these guys should get more attention

I really do recommend Amesoeurs, very beautiful mix of post-punk with black metal, also considering the male vocalist is prolific in the metal scene.

Queen is the only band I can think of who managed to write a legitimately emotional song about the time dilation effect in Einstein’s special theory of relativity.
 
Though the fact that Brian May is an astrophysicist with a PhD probably has something to do with it.

Movy’s 1999 album Play is one of my favorite albums of all.

Despite my love of rock and metal, I think the sax is my favorite instrument. That or the pan flute.

Yeah, that was basically nostalgic for me. From a young age, that was what got me into Journey.
