Which fandom dramas could be considered "End-of-the-Fandom" events?

So, >>352297 got me wondering:
 
Which past events were drama-inducing enough to be considered “End-of-Fandom” events?
 
I can think of:  

Yeah, plenty. But I think this goes on the Episode Discussion since it involves the show directly…

We’ve been through those, we can go through anything.

 
What worries me the most is that you casually admit that’s what got you thinking. Eurgh.

It takes more than that to end a fandom.

I know it caused drama, but I don’t think that the APM “movement” or takedown made anybody claim that the “Fandom is Ending”.
 
I don’t really think it was very divisive.

None, since the fandom isn’t a hivemind.

Faust leaving wasn’t really that Drama inducing. Of course there were many people who were concerned with her departure. But there wasn’t much drama surrounding it.
 
DerpyGate not really fandom ending but it wound up hurting a lot of people’s perceptions of Hasbro. And kinda resulted in so schisms amongst fans. This “drama” is something that I believe really hurt the fandom and it still hasn’t recovered from that to this day.

DWM wasn’t really fandom wide and was primarily contained on tumblr and /mlp/ to a degree. There were plenty of people who were apathetic towards the blog and the takedown.
 
I don’t believe there haven’t been any fandom ending dramas. Though there are a few which change it overall though.

I included “Faust Leaving” as an example to stimulate discussion and because there are still folks out there (mostly BPs) stating that the show has been ruined since then.

I didn’t follow the blog at all so DWM had absolutely no effect on me besides making me annoyed that SJW-ism had managed to take down an admittedly important blog within fandom culture.
 
Twilicorn is probably the biggest thing we’ve ever been through, and I’m still amazed it didn’t drive an even deeper rift than it did, and the Derpy fiasco in 2012 was probably the worst for me; I’d have been okay with it if there was a legitimate reason but the reasons behind it were to pathetic that it still makes me a bit angry thinking about it.
 
We’ve weathered many fandom-ending events, and there are plenty more to come. Every week’s episode brings new potential, and every moment brings the chance for a news article about the show/staff/fandom/etc that will start a new firestorm. I think it’s best to just sit back with a soda… or tea, if you prefer… and weather the storm in style… because these things are gonna keep happening just like they do in every fandom :P

I think the fandom would be pretty much united against that, though.

I don’t think the fandom will ever “end”. Even if Hasbro decided to cancel FiM right now, no more new episodes EVER, the fandom would still exist. We’d still write stories, do cosplay, draw art, create music, all that good stuff.

Show ending could make the fandom smaller, but there are still fan episodes…..that’ll more or less turn out like Double Rainboo-

Now that the fandom already formed and grew to this size, it will probably exist as long as MLP, not just the show but the whole franchise, exist.
