I always liked the Ewoks.

Also, just got out of The Force Awakens and I have to say, I didn’t like Kylo Ren’s characterization. I don’t know, he felt a little like a whiny teenager throwing temper tantrums. In fact, he reminded me of Anakin Skywalker from the prequels if he hadn’t become Darth Vader. But apart from that, I quite enjoyed the movie and hope to see where it goes from here.

Brony fandom: has a bad name only because of the show being made for a younger audience
SU fandom: has a bad name for driving someone to attempt suicide and being unrelenting afterwards
Both: have a bad name for having Lily Peet involved with them.
Also, I agree about SU’s character designs and animation. It just never interested me.

@Rpground
SU just felt very generic. The animation is generic CN animation, the characters are ones we’ve seen thousands of times, the fight scenes are stolen from anime… bleh.

no offense but this is exactly the type when two opinions arise from the same thing that i keep talking about.

if you like it, it’s a homage.
if you hate it, it’s a rip-off.

not saying you’re wrong though (your opinion), it’s just the opportunity arose for me to point out the difference between homage/rip-off (this is most evident in the two sets of trilogies in the star wars films. orig trilogy = homage to other movies, prequels = rip-offs of other movies)

I’ve already heard Steven rap… does it get worse than that? I mean, the theme song itself feels like a sped-up version of Creep by Radiohead, anyway.

@OptimusPrimevil
Okay, fine, you got me. But I do find it kind of weird how nobody pays attention to my Star Wars related opinions, but everyone gets their panties in a knot when I criticize Steven Universe.

@Kirb
Star wars has been on for far too long that some opinions have been said already?

honestly, I can’t recall your stance(s) on star wars. can you state some of them?

Personally, they’re enjoyable but not the pinnacle of human creativity/literature/entertainment some fans claim it to be.

Sooooooooo much drama on particular spoiler for the latest movie (like doing it is grounds for physical pain).

Huge fan. Loved the original trilogy, don’t mind George Lucas’s re-edits but just wish he’d release the originals to compare them to. TPM is my least favorite of the prequels, also always loved the Ewoks and I consider Kylo Ren to be the main bad thing about TFA.

Fair enough, but I still think they need to be watched in a film class. I went to a film class where they never showed or even talked about the original movie, despite it having been the highest grossing of all time for a while, and also being highly influential on other films and on the film world for a while. They showed us pretty much every highly important movie in film history (A Trip to the Moon, Casablanca, Metropolis, Citizen Kane, Vertigo, Jaws) but didn’t show us Star Wars. They even showed us an obscure 2013 documentary about sushi making, but they didn’t show us Star Wars. And I got the sense that the teacher didn’t like it, which is fine, but it’s still worth talking about in a film history class. That’s like having a music history class without talking about Elvis. (Of course, I was also in a music history class where we didn’t talk about Elvis, but that’s a different story.)

You mean this one? Soylent Green is people!!!!!

@Kirb
like that but more whining and physical threats?

maybe they’re too mainstream/known(star wars/elvis) to be tackled?

another homage/rip-off that i know of is regular show’s super robot special. those who like it say it’s a tribute/homage to giant robots, those who hate it say it’s no nothing/culture americans trying to ape japanese genius.
