I have absolutely no problems with Metroid Prime: Federation Force existing. If it revives the Metroid series and we get a new entry where we DO get to play as Samus, I’ll totally buy a copy.
 
…Though I must admit that I’m a tad confused as to what the gameplay for Federation Force is actually like.

Pretty much. This is why the Civil War film has less of a chance to fuck up as the comic storyline. Film editors have way less power than comic editors.
