We have seen Maud’s cutie mark for a very brief amount of time in her debut episode.
It’s a rock. Though for some reason toys decided to depict it as a murky gray diamond.
Also, Minuette or minute with her cutie-mark and talent all go hand in hand, because of those little hourglass things you can buy (or the dentist gives you) that time you while you brush your teeth.
All their cutie marks have something that relate to their names in the shield. Music note, Apple, Lighting Bolt for speed.
Diamonds are rare, Cadance’s full name in English means “I Love Cadance,” an Octave is a part of music, Fancy Pants is fancy or rich, Coc and Suri are references to fashion designers so fashion cutie-marks, Trenderhoof writes about trends so a trendy cutie mark, we haven’t seen Maud’s cutie-mark, Trixie does tricks so a magic wand.
Yes, there are some exceptions. But just because the names aren’t obvious doesn’t mean it isn’t there.
Her strength was a secret, and probably a surprise. It would be unlikely she was named that or named herself that.
It’s pronounced that way because that’s how it looks like it would be pronounced.
It’s literally the word minute with the last two letters switched around & te added for the aforementioned feminine name ending.
& even if it is related to the minuet it’s STILL a play on the word minute.
It’s literally the word minuet with the “te” added for the aformentioned feminine name ending. It’s also pronounced exactly the same as the word minuet.
Her name is clearly supposed to be a play on the word minute.
“minute” + the feminine name ending “ette” = Minuette
Her name’s not based on “minute,” it’s based on “minuet”, a type of ballroom dance.
One out of all the given examples.
Point is, the names and the cutie marks don’t have to match up. Or even related, for a good many.
Um, isn’t Minuette’s name’s relation to her hourglass mark a bit clear?
Better tell the CMC they have the wrong names, then. Also Pinkie Pie and Rarity. And Babs Seed. And Cheerilee. And Cadance, Octavia, Fancy Pants, Coco Pommel, Suri Polomare, Minuette, Flim, Flam, Trenderhoof, Double Diamond, Daring Do, Maud Pie, Trixie, Flax Seed, Wheat Grass, Torch Song, Ms. Harshwhinny…
It at least needs to have some relation to it. Most ponies do.
That’s not exactly a strict requirement.
No, because it has nothing to do with her cutie mark.
Ha, forgot about the Runaways.
Yes. That’s perfect.
I like it.
Hmm… Yes… Yes… YES!!!! THAT’S PERFECT!
Dear, Princess Twilight;
Today, I learned that you shouldn’t get into an argument about the most trivial of things. Ponies have different opinions on what they think is right, but that doesn’t mean you should start an argument just because feel something should be a certain. Especially, one about the name of a background pony. We all have our reasons for what should be what, but instead of trying to prove to each other what is best, we should compromise and come to an agreement, one that will make everypony happy.
Sincerely;
Brainstorm(Dashingjack)
I personally don’t think it’s an appropriate name for what little story the character has.
But some of that has to do with me becoming somewhat passionate for the name “Whole Hog” which happened like almost half an hour ago!
Though really her name will most likely be decided by whoever makes a story for her that people like well enough.
If anyone bothers to do that.
Yeah, really! It’s an adorable name for an insecure little filly. It’s almost like, character conflicts (including getting an unfortunate name) are what make for a more interesting narrative. Most of the names I’m seeing here would just leave her with another name that perfectly complies with her mark and slots her neatly into society where we can all forget about her and never touch her again.
I’ve gotten really passionate about this one little filly in a really short time.
Fuck you, random background pony who wouldn’t just let the sleeping dog lie and culled the name.
Figures
Really? Powerhouse? But wouldn’t it be better to rally behind a name that doesn’t obviously revolve around her strength since she was trying to keep it a secret & because her cutie mark also does not point to her immense strength with it being a hedgehog & all?
So much fighting for nothing.
