Traps~
Reminds me of when star trek had the whole military intersex uniforms thing.
Apparently the stuff Hollywood had taught me, and reality are at odds again… Apperently the SECNAV isn’t that big of a deal after all…
I thought Bidon was justr below Obama seeing as hes the Vice President, and all. Assuming they both got taken out, then John Boehner, would be your goto guy. Assuming the Terrorists got him as well… Then the SECNAV Ray Mabus has command…
And the Commander in Chief at the top— is there a specific number/letter thingie like the above stuff for the President? And Secretary of…. Defense is right below Obama?
We haven’t even gotten into Warrant Officers and civilian GS pay grades. Then we need to cover non-taxable allowances like VHA, BAS and COLA. There’s also per diem for deployments and tax-exemption for time spent in hazardous fire zones.
Everybody paying attention? There will be a test.
On paper, yes, enlisted is under officer no matter if it’s E-9 to O-1. But typically there is a bit of respect for one’s experience. An E-7 and above has been in a lot longer then an O-1 and typically that is taken into account, but at the end of the day the E-9 still has to salute the O-1
And are the O-ranks absolutely above the E-ranks? E-9s always take orders from O-1’s?
Don’t forget the E-10s, or E-9 with special pay. 1 of those for each branch.
They count up. E-1 is the lowest, up to E-9. Then the Officer ranks start at O-1 and run up to O-10, which is a 4-star General or Admiral.
There were several 5-star Officers in WWII but I don’t think there was any special pay grade established for them.
Fecal matter
Ahh; and which— ‘gets paid more,’ then I suppose the question to ask is. It ranks up, yes? Or counts down?
E-3 and E-5 refer to pay grades…which correspond to rank. Since each service has its own names for each rank your pay grade becomes the only universal language across all the services.
For instance (as SemPBron3 pointed out) the blue hoers in this is an E-5. In the Navy & Coast Guard that’s called Petty Officer 2nd Class, in the Army and Marines it’s a Sergeant and in the Air Force it’s a Staff Sergent. But they’re all the same rank & pay grade.
E refers to Enlisted pay grades, O is for the Officers.
Civvy here: I have no idea what that means.
In this day and age, yes. But back in the day it was different. Sawyer (the female) is an E-3, and Bellbottom is clearly an E-5.
Junior enlisted Navy women & men both wear the neckerchief & ‘Donald Duck’ uniform…NCO’s and Officers wear the ‘business suit’, male or female.
