Scootaloo would earn her real cutie mark twenty-one hours later, after leaping her scooter into and out of the windows of the second floor of a burning building (the destruction of which, incidentally, did not earn Sweetie Belle a cutie mark). However, the presence of an image already on her flank at that time caused her cutie mark to come in “ingrown,” causing intense, painful swelling and unsightly purulent discharge. The condition was corrected surgically, but left her cutie mark 45% smaller than normal and slightly asymmetrical due to resectioning of the affected tissue.
