I’m sorry, but I cannot support Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This is despite the fact that some of my loved ones have had BC scares in the past (fortunately naught came of it)

Why? Couple of reasons…

  1. All this pink is the brainchild of the Komen Organization. I’ve done research into them; every piece of reliable info I’ve been able to find suggests they’re little more than a scam. They take in millions every year, and little to none of that is spent on research or help. Most of the money goes to pay their overhead and cover their bloated media budget.

  2. Breast cancer is the most overfunded disease awareness campaign in the world. As a result, BC now has the highest survival rate of any cancer. That’s great, but the continued badgering by Komen is sucking time, attention, and resources away from causes that frankly are more deserving. For instance, Prostate cancer and lung cancer both have higher affliction rates, but get a mere fraction of R&D money that BC does. Komen argues that raising BC awareness benefits everyone, but the numbers argue otherwise.

eh. this is just me, but after reading a story where someone was turned down from getting treatment, this whole thing seems to be a ploy to bigger inflate the amount of money they get to do nothing with.

I’m sorry, but I can not support something that is supposed to be “Awareness” and to help people, but would turned their backs away from people that need help it just feels like a scam op.
