In “Look Before You Sleep,” Rarity and Applejack were both protagonists AND antagonists, which is interesting. Definitely not villains, though.

Only in fanfiction, where her habit of coming back to impotently test herself against Twilight’s awesome power and get curbstomped has become an overused cliche. By show canon, she came back once and that was it; by comic canon, she’s moved on.

I am just gonna state something that most people probably know, but you know.. in case people don’t know: An antagonist is a person/pony who is opposed to, struggles against, or competes with another opponent. Mainly a Protagonist (Main character)

Bit of nerd rage here: Yes you are an antagonist. In the story you work to agains Twilight and her goals. Now just because you’re the antagonist doesn’t mean that you’re evil or a bad person, you’re just working against the protagonist of the story.
