I have to say, Kilala97’s OC universe is really famous throughout the community of DA pony artists, and I must applaud her for her beautiful works of art. It’s such a shame that certain parts of the internet completely disrespect it. It’s like no matter how good a picture is, some would still cry fowl at it just for having an OC.

Starburst has had a lot of fanart but there’s very little of her interacting with her dad, despite her desire of being a Royal Guard and the fact that she’s a pegasus suggests she takes after him.

A small rustle from the sheets woke Flash up, he grumbled a little before opening his eyes to see his young daughter looking at him with big, worried eyes. Flash sighed, this was not the first, nor the last time that he would see this.
 
“Daddy, I can’t sleep” The young filly said in a low voice at the borderline of tears.
 
“bad dream again squirt?”
 
Starburst nodded repeatedly. Flash sighed again, rising from the bed carefully not to wake Twilight, he unfolded his wing carefull so he wouldn’t knock the night lamp like before and enveloped his daughter’s tiny frame.
 
“Sweetheart, it was just a dream. Whatever it was, it can’t really hurt you”
 
“Why is auntie Luna coming to save me anymore?” Starburst said in an almost broken voice.
 
Flash chuckled and wiped away her tears with the tip of his feathers.
 
“she can only help you a few times, you have to face your monsters on your own”
 
“I don’t want to Daddy, they’re scary!”
 
Flash enveloped her quickly, trying to calm her loud voice in order to not wake Twilight.
 
“Let’s go take some fresh air” He said, placing his daughter on his back and heading out the room.

the night was clear, filled with glimmering stars, a gentle warm breeze constantly blew in the wind, carrying the faint and strong scents of the forest.
 
Flash sat in the middle of the open field a few feet away from their home. Letting his daughter slide from his back, she happily squeezed in between his front hooves and gazed at the stars. He looked down at her amused at her sudden change of mood.
 
“Starburst” he called to her in a fatherly voice.
 
The little filly instantly looked up at his face with expectant eyes.
 
“Is the night scary?” he asked her.
 
The little filly gave him a puzzled look, she held the question in her head and looked at her surroundings. After a while, she looked back up at her father and with a worried look that she might answer incorrectly she said:
 
“No, auntie Luna makes it, she’s not scary”
 
Flash smiled at the filly’s innocent answer.
 
“Tell me, how do the monsters look in your dream?”
 
Starburst hid her face behind his legs and let out a small whimper.
 
“They are big and have giant claws and fangs and they always growl at me and try to chase me, the call my name and tell me that they just want to play”
 
Flash trying to find a way of helping her daughter face her nightmares, realized that the solution was right there. He lowered his upper frame, resting on the grass he enveloped his front hooves around the little form of his daughter.
 
“Is uncle Spike scary?” he asked.
 
Starburst looked at him with a surprised look.
 
“Never! he’s not scary at all!”
 
Flash laughed at her sudden jolt of emotion.
 
“Tell me sweetie, how does uncle Spike look?”
 
 
“Well, he’s big and very tall, he has very long claws and auntie Rarity sometimes yells at him because he scrapes the floor, and he has big big fangs, that’s why mommy always knows when he takes a bite out of the crystals she studies.”
 
Flash laughed at her daughter’s funny faces as she described his uncle.
 
“Don’t you see it dear? you said it yourself!”
 
“Huh?”
 
“Uncle Spike is big and has big claws and fangs, but that doesn’t mean his a bad guy, right?”
 
“Well, yea!”
 
“Then, maybe those monsters are just like uncle Spike, maybe they just look a bit scary but they really just want to play. Next time try to talk to them, ok?”
 
Starburst looked at her father with big worried eyes, then her face scrunched and she hid it behind her hooves. Flash got worried and tried to calm her daughter.
 
“Sweetie, I was just,uh I was just trying to~~”
 
“I’ve been a bad filly Daddy!”
 
Flash stopped at his daughter’s sudden reply
 
“wha-why do you think that?”
 
Starburst sniffled loudly, she wiped her tears and looked straight at her father’s eyes.
 
“I’ve been mean to those monsters daddy! they just wanted to play and I ran away because I thought they were going to hurt me and~~ and just like mommy says, you should never look at somepony just on the outside, because no matter how scary they look, that doesn’t mean they are mean! oh, daddy! I have to apologize!”
 
Flash listened as his daughter finished her little speech, after a few seconds he smiled widely and snatched his daughter in a big tight hug.
 
“You two over there! don’t go outside without telling me! disappearing in the middle of the night, do you want to give me a heart attack!”
 
Flash and Starburst flinched a little, they knew that voice. They were in trouble.
 
“You guys! I was scared!”
 
“I had a bad dream mommy and daddy took me outside to calm down!” Starburst said with a happy tone.
 
“is that soooo… and did daddy told you that I would be very very worried if I woke up and found out you two were gone?”
 
The little filly looked at the ground puzzled
 
“No”
 
Flash gave her a nervous grin.
 
“I didn’t want to wake you up so late”
 
Twilight booped his nose a little harder.
 
“Ow!”
 
“the intention is nice, still, if you wish to take our daughter to future midnight expeditions, PLEASE wake me up, kay?”
 
She gave Flash a little peck on his red nose. Starburst laughed.
 
“hahaha, you¿re busted daddy!”
 
Flash stuck his tongue out to her. Starburst jumped in the air and sloppily flew at Flash’s head, Simulating a cry, he fell backwards to the soft grass and joined his daughter in laughter.
 
Twilight watched with a loving gaze at the two before she herself pinned Flash to the floor and joined in the laughs.
 
The warm breeze carried in the wind was joined with the sound of laughter, in a bright summer night.
