Not in the Marvel universe they’re not.
Thor and Zeus are gods.
Or were gods, or are supposedly gods, depending where you stand.
Do you feel the same about Thor or Zeus?
If such pony creation myths existed I’m fairly certain it would go like this:
First there was nothing…then this happened
and then this
who is seen by ponies as this
who made these
and of course this
and then…uh he came up from somewhere
and then some stuff about the balance between order and chaos, something about the formation of the lesser races,Tirek,a mysterious messiah know as the “Human Meghan” And paradise Vally and some more harmonious, corruption and the moon blah blah blah and bam!
Friendships all over the place!
The problem here is that our terminology is based on a history of a concept of a god/gods.
For argument’s sake, let’s assume the pony cultures do not have a concept of a god. Therefore, they do not have the concept of a demigod, and if presented with a (might-based) one, might say “Oh, you mean like a princess?” or “like an alicorn?”
Historically, gods are a way of eplaining what we don’t know. Back before we knew about electricity, a thunder god, etc. When stuff worked and we didn’t know why, it got attributed to intelligences and powers like nature spirits and gods.
For the ponies, it’s a bit weird. The Sun moves because Celestia moves it. This is reminiscient of our historical “sun god” explanation. The difference is, that for the ponies, this is verifiable. It’s a true belief, an instance of knowledge. Celestia is an immortal creature (immortality is neither a required nor unique ability of gods) with the (nearly) unique ability of lifting the sun without a dedicated team of unicorns. Think really-real Superman, not Yahweh.
I’d wager they have their own unverified beliefs, their creation myths and such, as well. A pony-shaped god or gods, who created the world and all its inhabitants, etc. Powerful characters in there would be relatable to our own gods. Or maybe Faust always existed, created everything, explained it to Celestia and Luna in sufficient detail, and they really have no concept of a god like ours, and thus, no concept of atheism. (“Not believeing in what doesn’t exist” doesn’t warrant a term.)
By the Greek definition of the term they absolutely are. Same with the Norse.
That’s more one way one becomes a demigod in Greek/Roman myth.
That is what I was thinking, but I thought it meant something else. Like, a demigod is someone that has parents that is mortal and god.
Demigod.
Though, I think that term is completely moot if there are no actual gods around to compare them to.
No, there wouldn’t be ANY atheists, atheists t don’t believe in ANY deities, so if the alicorns where gods then an atheist pony would not believe in them ot not be an atheist.
Alicorns are not gods and even if they were, it wouldn’t change really anything. They just wouldn’t be atheists towards these particular gods because these gods really do exist.
How can this “living god pony” punch with no fists?
Checkmate Celestanism.
