And you’re right about the time. One time my friend overslept and he was fed ground chili peppers for a wake up call.
Nearly all militaries in the world use 24 hour clocks and terms so you don’t really need to be American to get this, just have some basic military knowledge.
As for the time, A wise soldier wakes up at least two hours before formation to make sure they’re ready. An anal NCO will wake you up three hours before if they’re in a bad mood. And a retarded fresh new PC looking to brown nose might wake you up four hours before.
Formation is at 0500(5:00 AM) so it is advisable to wake up the troops (via reveille) at a much earlier time. Derpy basically wanted everyone to wake up at 2:30 AM.
