Well I mean, she’s not entirely blameless. She approaches a guy because he’s rich and good-lookinhg and expects to be treated like a princess (which is doubly insulting when the guy in question is royalty himself) after merely telling him her name.
 
Yeah he was rude, but… give me a reason why he should have treated her special when he knew nothing about her. Explain why he should be opening doors for her and buying her food when he’s a prince and she’s just a random mare who suddenly started following him.

It’s when the guy is nice to start with, and then slowly stops being nice, that you see the girl sticking around like an idiot.
 
Gilda and Dash’s situation is a far better one to talk about, as Dash had a lot of reasons to want to keep being friends with Gilda what with all that history they have. But she was smart about it and called Gilda out on her awfulness. But the abuse was never directed at Dash herself so… that’s not useful either.
 
Oh wait, Fluttershy and Angel! There we go, that’s something worth talking about! Though “using the stare” to get your guy to be less of a jerk is not something anyone in real life can relate to… Yeah this is a failed cause. There is no relationship advice to be gained from this show.

Not like she objectified him into the perfect male and then got angry at him when he wasn’t. The rest of the story could have been her getting into a relationship so she could “fix” his problems and have her dream at last.

Extra hilarity: Rarity and Blueblood appear to have later made up. Seriously, Sweet and Elite has them together in two scenes (one where Blueblood is part of a line of ponies greeting Rarity, one where they stand together on a raised platform while she christened an airship.) No sign of ill will whatsoever.

That and the whole “strong, realistic female leads” thing, or the depiction of mares having independent careers and goals, each main character having a distinct personality rather than conforming to some sort of a norm (to paraphrase Faust, “There are many different ways to be a girl”), etc.

I liked this sub plot because they were both wrong. Blueblood was a jerk, but Rarity’s dream was dumb and she was stupid for believing in it, and it makes me happy when television show’s character dreams as hopeless.

This isn’t feminism, this is just saying “If you’re a dick to someone they’re not going to like you.” It applies to all relationships.

This is actually pretty genuine feminism, and I’m not sure why all the downvotes. If a stallion isn’t nice to a mare, the mare can lose interest and go elsewhere.
