Jokaro

Ms. Peachbottom/Harshwhinny, both names are actually her’s. Ms. Harshwhinny is good, at least to me. Knowledge is the ultimate good.
Background Pony #EA42
I can’t see Ms. Harshwhinny reacting like that at being called a bitch. She’d probably just smirk as if to say, “Your point?” I bet she’s been called a bitch hundreds of times, and now its just background noise.

“she didn’t yell at him”
she kind of did. It was to snap him out of fear, but she did. Probably not as startling in a roaring stadium, though.

“She was just stern and straightforward.”
As part of her job, right? I already covered that

“that isn’t always the best thing for some kids, but for others and adults, it works.”
Does Spike qualify as an adult? What do you mean by “others?”

“Also, she had nothing to do with Spike’s problem”
I mentioned that in the source, actually. And as I said, she probably didn’t help (actually, she did get him up the ladder). In fact, she immediately doubted him when he mentioned he was having trouble.

“she seems relieved and kind of concerned”
I think she was just confused, although I wondered how she saw clearly from below that he didn’t light the torch.

I don’t devalue her as a character; in fact grouchy characters are often used in comedy as the straight man. That’s what I was trying, but now we’re arguing about a cartoon.

….Why? I mean, why? She didn’t yell at him, throw any unnecessary pressure. She was just stern and straightforward. Of course, that isn’t always the best thing for some kids, but for others and adults, it works.

Also, she had nothing to do with Spike’s problem. It was the large crowd staring down at him, judging his every move. I could understand her getting frustrated with Spike, since this is a very important event for Equestria.

I mean, she seems relieved and kind of concerned when Spike comes down covered in soot and leaves once she knows he’s okay.

A good character who I hope we see again.

can I say something?

You wouldn’t get away with yelling at a kid suddenly struggling to speak at an opening speech. It would be slightly more appropriate if was a kid running a race, but that’s not what this was.

Yes, she has a job, but does that make it appropriate in this situation? What if your boss told you to clean the floor with ammonia and bleach mixed together?

What she did was rude. The green dude is overreacting and she didn’t exactly make him cry, but people who work with kids know they have to be more sensitive than that. Yes, she didn’t realize… so then someone should tell her.

C’mon, appreciate the poor mare. She does a difficult, thankless job with plenty of stress that could fail on a billion small details.
