I’m not trying to “dick around”. Background pony didn’t understand what OP’s picture meant. I explained what OP’s picture meant. That doesn’t mean I agree.
Yep.
And besides, if it does happen, the fan outcry will be so great it will utterly destroy Hasbro…
It’s not happening. I’m not worried of it for anything. If Hasbro were the ones who went after Jan, his videos would have been taken down without warning, so if you click on the link, it would say “this video has been blocked buy Hasbro Studios LCC” whereas, when I clicked them, it said they were made private. Hasbro would NEVER send a simple PM, without an icon to add to that. His channel would have probably been terminated with all the pony videos he had. Stop dicking around.
Jan Animations got a Cease and Desist from Hasbro before this image was posted.
The OP is saying that Flufflepuff will get C&D next; although Fluffle Puff is an OC, Mixermike has been using Chrysalis, Twilight, and Dan from Dan VS.
Did this just to start shit,
…Good bye Fluffle Puff. It was nice knowing you…
@SRD639
He’s also had all the mane 7 as well as other background ponies in animations.
…Fuck. You’re right.
Dan Vs. and queen chrysalis
Ignore that guy.
Rampant paranoia.
@Muffen-Man
There’s a significant difference between saying Mixermike622’s works use trademarked characters and are thus a potential target, and saying Fluffle Puff is next.

Care to share your good reason(s)?

Nice little insinuation on Jan there, planting the story that he’s used DHX assets while not providing evidence and phrasing it so you can deny ever actually accusing him of that. Classy.
Anyway, I don’t know how “simple” this animation is, but $5000 doesn’t necessarily sound outrageous to me. Assuming the artist is asking $25/hour for his time, that would work out to paying for 200 hours of labor, which would consist of making 1200-2400 images for a 50-second animation. How reasonable that is, again, depends on how “simple” the animation is, but I can’t imagine wanting to commission someone for about a minute’s worth of a pony standing in one place and talking…
As for the rest, I really can’t comment. I don’t know why Jan doesn’t spend more time making free content, I don’t know what he’s like personally, I really haven’t followed him closely because what he’s done after “Picture Perfect Pony” hasn’t interested me very much.
(Though I will say I agree that Hasbro’s not evil. Sometimes too focused on short-term profit, cost-cutting, and market research, at the expense of making a quality product that will last, but not evil.)
It’s scary to think about, but the highly rustle-able and highly organized, such as the SJWs, actually hold the de facto banhammer since if they don’t like you they can officially point you out to Hasbro along with whatever detrimental thing they’re focused on which forces Hasbro to take action in the matter.
@Background Pony #965C
This’d make hay if it weren’t from a background pony.
I’m just speculating on 965C’s post.
But he wasn’t.
Could it be possible that someone in the group reported him to Hasbro’s legal staff for trying to make money off their IP?
Rainboom also used DHX assets, which has been proven in a few places scattered around. But obviously he can’t tell the truth that he violated a lot of copyright laws or it would ruin what little reputation he has left. It’s already pretty insulting to disregard all the hard work the team put into it and remove it like it never happened. It’s obvious something more happened than “it wasn’t needed anymore.” You don’t just remove a year’s worth of work from a team of 40 people.
Jan isn’t any better. He might not have used DHX assets… Actually, who knows with how close his style is. But if there’s one thing I do know it’s how he’s riding his popularity for as little work as possible. He rarely, if at all, does anything yet jumps at the opportunity to get attention. I find it incredibly hard to believe he couldn’t update a blog that uses premade models. You’d have to be rather dishonest not to have a couple hours a week, or even a month, for something as simple as that. Not to mention the money I know he’s making. Not even a week before the C&D he tried charging a group I’m in over $5,000 for less than a minute’s worth of simple animation. He’s not exactly a very humble person if you actually look. There’s a reason he reblogs and plugs other people more than he actually updates. He has to make himself look good somehow. Because obviously he’s too busy to make a simple update for his fans using vectors that are already made.
Hasbro isn’t evil. They do appreciate their fans and the fanwork. No fans means no money. I doubt they’d let something the fans enjoy get shut down without a good reason. So I don’t think Jan’s C&D was too far out of line.
But even with all that aside and you don’t believe a word I’ve said so far, someone like that doesn’t get in trouble for no reason. Fluffle has literally twice as many followers and subscribers than Jan, who’s supposedly “the best animator in the fandom.” If they’re going after popular things, then why hasn’t Fluffle been hit yet? Either someone really really doesn’t like Jan, which I’d believe. Or he did something so wrong that it caught someone’s attention. Which I’d also believe.
And even if not a single word of this is the case, it’s not like we’d ever see another episode anyway with how little he does.
So the best thing to do is to go after Hasbro and E-Mail Angry rants to them that they’ll most likely ignore and delete?
Yeah it’s going to be really hard to keep this thing moving between seasons if we can’t create any fan animations and artwork starts getting removed. I really hope the VP comes through and finds some kind of solution.
@Background Pony #2680
The fans are pissed off enough as it is. They need to take a hit.
If they do this, they kill the fandom.
