You know it’d be worth it just for that.
It’s the replacement deus ex machina power they will get to defeat some big bad that will appear at the end of the season, now that they are lacking the elements. I doubt it will be a permanent change (more akin to the end of Crystal Empire), but it will affect all the ponies in Ponyville (hence while we’ve got rainbowified Whooves and Vinyl) and something they can later call upon if a dire need arises.
I mean besides that.
Heck, I’d be content to know they can all shoot lasers from their eyes now.
Just end the mystery already, so I can stop thinking about it!
