I know the feel, as I’ve been archiving stuff from the site and including the comments for posterity. Reading some of the stuff we said back then is often a case of hilarious in hindsight, given how all the big controversies happened in the first half of the show’s run.

I really started watching it in 2017, I think. Started interacting with the fandom a couple years after that. Technically watched an episode for the first time in 2011, but I didn’t keep watching it because I was a loser.

Your profile doesn’t give any indication of how long you’ve been within the fandom, but suffice to say Twilicorn and the close-following Equestria Girls drama was a massive one-two punch of a controversy to the fandom back then. I remain of the opinion that they were the biggest controversies within the fandom to date.

Sadly, I wasn’t really around in those days. But yeah… kinda wish I was around in those days, when the big issue was whether a purple unicorn should have wings or not. Things were probably a lot more lively in those days.
