This comic always sparks the most outrage. In fact, I’m pretty sure d715 was acting just as butthurt over at Ponibooru.
 
Jesus was the Son of God and an aspect of the Holy Trinity, but he was also mortal in body and was crucified until death. Christians formed an entire religion around that, so I think I can be allowed a little creative liberty.
 
And yes, you’re supposed to dislike Aquilinus. He doesn’t (knowingly) lie, because he considers himself above petty dishonesty, but there is always another side to any story. It’s a trope called the Unreliable Narrator.
