Oh, sorry! The animators changed the design shortly after S01E03/04, from the one above with the heavy outline going all around it to the one you see in subsequent episodes that’s a bit more graceful. The newer one has just a little outline hint where it joins the pony’s head that’s like a continuation of the spiral:
The original did look a bit… stark and obvious on Rara, so I guess that’s why they changed it. It’s a fairly obscure (and pointless) bit of pony knowledge though.
