And for that same reason we got all the deaths in Transformers: the movie.
I suppose, But this is all opinion on my part.
I like that it actually tries to be intelligent. It’s not often you see people make jokes about things like functional programming, and it’s quite refreshing to see this level of “nerd humor” get this much attention.
Also, using “autism” as a derogatory term kind of completely ruins your credibility to make any reasoned argument.
Why does it suck?
Xkcd sucks and the creator is a hack.
A bit of a narrow distinction, I suppose, but it’s very, very good for what was essentially a 30-minute long toy commercial. A huge step up from the laziness that was G1.
>it’s widely considered to be the best Transformers cartoon of all time.
What an honor!
Remember that the entire reason for Beast Wars existing was to promote a new brand of animal-themed Transformer, and it’s widely considered to be the best Transformers cartoon of all time.

I’m well aware of the problems it can raise, I’m just saying that the fact that the motivation doesn’t affect the quality as long as the desire to make a good product is prioritized over messing with it to sell toys.
You could have somebody make a show in order to sell toys, but that doesn’t make it a bad show unless you force them to make bad changes to sell product.
MLP:FIM does have some of those problems, but as a general statement it isn’t necessarily the case that all toy-ad shows suck, they just have a higher liklihood to because execs like money.
It does sometimes wrench the show in odd directions. Pointless third alicorn? Who only cheapens the also toy-driven decision to alicornize the lead character?
It does change the motivation, and hence the goals though.
The most obvious impact on the show of its merchandise-driven nature, is the regular introduction of new settings, characters and themes. Hasbro can only sell so many mane 6 and Ponyville playsets before they saturate the market and need to introduce something a new toy line. That’s why we’ve had Cadence, the Crystal Empire, and Twilicorn introduced so soon despite there being plenty of room left for story telling in existing settings.
Whether or not the show is made to sell toys doesn’t in and of itself have anything to do with the quality.
Okay, that makes more sense. That got lost in translation it seems.
If you read the original comic (linked in the source) you’ll see that it was intended as a joke about fanatical devotion - not mere enjoyment.
I think he is referencing some of us’s fanatical love for the show, You know how we are supposed to be, not like these wannabes who don’t even try to build a portal to Equestria, losers,
Well…
