The poster says Princess Twilight becoming a glamorous Princess effortlessly is a bad example for girls.

Then follows it up by saying Rarity is the sort that buys into that bad example.

Rarity, who is glamorous because she works hard for it, and had her dreams of simply marrying into royalty dispelled hard back in S1, is too deep for this poster.

Maybe I’m not in the know about whatever Rarity did, but how is Rarity an example of the toxic notion of being a princess?

“Most of them, thank god, grow out of that phase and realize it’s bullshit, but some don’t.”

What’s the issue, then? If most girls are smart enough to see through that it’s FICTION and just enjoy it for the cutsey wish fulfillment that it is, then there’s no problem. The ones that don’t, well they’re the ones that die imitating Naruto.

I’ve got faith in kids. I honestly feel the vast majority of girls don’t suddenly feel “Hey! I should be a princess” after watching colorful horses dick around on tv. For the few that do, fuck them. They’re the ones that are dumb enough to eat the big colorful candies from mom’s medicine cabinet anyways.

Cartoons, like any other story, have an impact on their audience. Sometimes they teach morals and give us larger-than-life characters that stay with the audience for a good part of their lives. So it’s worth considering what kind of an example they set.

I agree with this /mlp/ guy, a lot of princesses in past stories haven’t pulled their weight. Many people will point out that MLP princesses are actually in charge, yet we don’t get to see them beyond social appearances.

I can only count three episodes where a pony princess has actually performed royal duties without an audience.

There’s no way that line is being delivered seriously, is there? It’s too ridiculous.

Really, what I’m getting is that Twilight will want to roll up her sleeves and work, but it’s everyone else who will treat her as if she’s supposed to sit on a cushion and watch.

Remember “Winter Wrap-Up”? She didn’t even know what she would be doing and still hopped in trying find the task that she was best suited for.

She wants to work hard and do things, but yeah, it really sounds as if Rarity is seriously projecting here. Just like with “Green Isn’t Your Color”. Fluttershy abhored being a model, but still went with it because Rarity made it sound like it was important. These dreams are all Rarity’s and if she can’t live them while one of her friends actually does, she’ll do what she can to make sure they do it as she would.
