Princess Celestia explained this when she said the elements were disconnect from her and her sister after NMM banishment. Though it may become an explanation why Celestia didn’t get the same result as Twilight when she used them on her sister.
I though only Celestia used the elements? To Beat Nightmare Moon?
But didn’t Luna used to hold the elements, and Twilight and co used them against her?
She was vanquished because she tried to used one of the elements against its holder. You’re right, she should have know better than doing this especially after she pretended to know how they work better than Twilight.
The demonic side of Sunset is hyped up, she throws a couple of fireballs and poof, friendship prevails. Cock tease I say.
Rest of the movie was entertaining, but the climax was not. I felt the same way for the way chrysalis was vanquised.
The way they handle Sunset and her acolytes, I have no problem with.

What I’m curious about is if Sunset is cured of her asshole-ness, if she and Flash will get back together.
I think that came from The Mungoman’s rant about Equestria Girls’ trailer, in which he says FS has that “annoying Brad Pitt’s voice”, so that everyone started to call him Brad.
But maybe I’m mistaken.
As far as forced love interest characters go, he was pretty harmless IMO. He likes her, she likes him, but they don’t go overboard and declare undying love of shit like that. They just dance like a pair of nutballs. They don’t even get a tearfull fairwell when she leaves.
And does this mean you liked the resolution to the movie? Cause that was really, REALLY bad.
I wasn’t too keen about how it was okay to leave Sunset Shimmer in that universe, especially when Celestia was so obsessed about ‘balance’ and all that.
I mean, as a love interest he was so freking ideal it was painful. Pretty much pony version of Eddie the vampire princess. “Dreamy” Cutebottom, indeed Meghan…
