I think there isn’t really an official moderator statement on the matter, but in general I’d say that in absence of explicitly gender-related tags, it’d be most respectful to treat male and female as gender tags. Trans female and trans male also imply female and male respectively, further suggesting that’s how it’s being treated right now. It gets a bit more complicated with explicit images, discussion on that here.

Question? If a character is trans then how should you tag their sex? Since the only tags for those are male and female, which are sex terms not gender terms does it mean that a trans woman should be tagged as male, since that’s still their sex? Unless we are talking about a magical sex transformation. I know there is mare and stallion, which would be the gendered terms, but they imply male/female tags.
