Hey everyone,
After yesterday and the introduction of Blueberry, I felt that it was time that we tackled her mother, Cranberry. Not in a literal sense, I’m sure her husband or perhaps her dog wouldn’t appreciate that. XD
Now, Cranberry has received a fairly extensive redesign here, with a fully rebalanced colour palette, a new manestyle, and a new accessory where before she had none. But she is still at least recognisable from her previous iteration.
Cranberry is a mostly motherly stereotype- generally calm, mindful and polite, and quite the domestic Goddess, it is said. But, even now in her late 30s, she is still prone to getting the zoomies from time to time, taking flight randomly and somewhat recklessly, or sprinting with wild abandon.
Naturally, this can be most inconvenient if she is working at the time, sending sheets of paper and small objects airborne as she darts out of her office at a high rate of speed. Of course, most of the maids and cleaning staff are none too pleased with her energetic outbursts, and tend to cringe at the possibility of even more work being piled onto their hectic schedules. Even if Cranberry does apologise profusely afterwards.
However, her beloved husband, Clean Sweep, finds this adorable more than anything else, and actively encourages her to do it whenever she feels like it, and often ends up petting her like a house cat afterwards when she’s all tuckered out. When Blueberry witnesses these zoomies, she just tends to shake her head and mutter something along the lines of, “mommy, stop embarrassing me!”
Cranberry’s headscarf is worn as a mark of her friendship and respect for Lady Imani, after the giraffe met with the Nightkin Peryton to organise shipments of quality marble and granite for New Sanctuary’s construction. During the weeks of negotiations, Cranberry and Imani quickly became friends, and the two keep in regular contact even to this day.
This has also led to the Nightkin taking in a pair of disaffected male giraffe warriors that now live in New Sanctuary castle, where they act as utterly loyal Honour Guards for Lady Nightshade herself, still equipped with their tribal weapons and clothing.
As mentioned in the last upload, Cranberry was the one who finally managed to raise the alarm after meeting Princess Luna by chance, and is the reason that Equestria has spent so much time and money helping the survivors of the Sundering of the Nightkin.
Thus, though she is not the most social or outgoing doe, she is deeply appreciated amongst the Nightkin as the one who metaphorically got everyone on the road to recovery, and it is believed by all.of the Nightkin survivors that they would have all died in obscurity without Cranberry taking the initiative.
She has a pet husky, Loki, who is freakishly large for his breed, and is almost the same size as Cranberry herself. He is fiercely protective of her as she also saved his life- finding him abandoned as a puppy in a dumpster back in Baltimare, saving him from a very short and cold life. Though a rather grumpy and willful dog for anyone else to deal with, Loki follows Cranberry’s commands to the letter, without any issue at all.
Having met Cranberry and Loki recently, Fluttershy is pretty certain that Loki is truly fully sapient and far more intelligent and understanding than the vast majority of Equestrian animals. But Loki, for his part, just wants to live his life as he is, and protect his savior until his dying breath. In summation, Loki sees Cranberry as his entire world, and wants to be part of it for as long as possible.
