Ask her if the monks can help restore somepony’s lost/forgotten memories? Then start checking around the town we’re already in Shui-Ti for clues on Dirt. Finally, inform her that who’s to say that every Kirin mare wants to follow that way of Courting custom here they may be a few who are curious and wants try to a different way of courting since they’re starting to see Pony outsiders coming into their Homeland […].
Considering Tsu-Ko’s suggestion to visit a temple, you try asking her whether monks would be able to help restore a pony’s lost memories.
Tsu-Ko: “Not that I know of. Why? Did you encounter a Memory Eater on your way here?”
Honourshine: “A… Memory Eater?”
Tsu-Ko: “You don’t know? They’re a type of Devourer. Can you guess what they feed on?”
Moonflower: “Wait, ya got monsters that eat memories? Harsh bud! Can you get ’em back?”
Tsu-Ko: “Of course you can. You just have to find the one that stole from you — if you can remember that much — and slay it!”
Honourshine: “… Slay it?”
Tsu-Ko: “Yes, slay it! Destroy it! Terminate it! Cut it to pieces, crush it into dust, burn it to ashes — it doesn’t matter how you do it, as long as you fell the thing!”
You remark that violence sounds like an extreme response to what sounds like mischief.
Tsu-Ko: “Oh, don’t feel bad about it. It’s not like they do. And besides, they’ll come right back before you know it!”
Moonflower: “Whoa, they come back to life?”
Tsu-Ko: “Once a month. They’re critters from the Underworld; nothing but trouble ever comes out of that place.”
Honourshine: “And these Devourers… do you suppose they exist elsewhere in the world?”
Tsu-Ko: “Not if your questions are anything to go by, but who knows?”
Still, you are glad — not to say concerned — to learn of the threats that loom in the island’s wilderness. But first, you have a pony to find who, with enough luck, will not have gone that far.
As you make your way back to the town’s paved roads, however, you can’t help but think back to the sheer complexity of the Kirin’s courting rules. You wonder if there aren’t a struggling few who would appreciate a simpler approach.
Tsu-Ko: “Oh boy… You know how you view yourself doesn’t matter, right? It’s how others see you that defines who you truly are. Well, keep that in mind, and maybe you’ll save yourself from becoming known as a deviant throughout the Empire. Being allowed into towns is a privilege, after all; don’t take it for granted!”
Moonflower: “Heehee! Is it really that bad?”
Tsu-Ko: “I’ll put it this way: If you don’t show respect for the customs of the land you’re in, then you’ll forever be a stranger here. Not that there’s anything wrong with how you do things back home, but you’d expect the same kind of courtesy from visitors in your own land, wouldn’t you?”
Moonflower: “Ohh, I guess you’re right.”
Curious, you ask if demons follow similar rules.
Tsu-Ko: “They’re not allowed into towns, I can tell you that much. Hey, don’t you have someone to find? Get your mind out of the gutter for a minute, you’ve got ponies to talk to! Respectfully!”
