Turkey wasn’t Turkish until the Seljuks migrated there, followed by the Ottomans. It was part of the Greek world for centuries.
But true enough. Byzantine was what remained of Rome and existed for a thousand years after Rome’s two sackings.

And, of course, Byzantium was the capital of the Roman Empire, so it makes sense they’d have Roman arches.
(the Byzantines were a funny people - living in Turkey, speaking Greek, and calling themselves Romans).

Pretty much all those traits are also common in Orthodox Christian architecture, which suggests both of them got it from the Byzantines.
Correct. And also Pagan Greeks were the ones who came up with arches so we ultimately have them to thank for curvy buildings.
