Don’t forget Beat’em ups like Double Dragon. Vertical shooters such as Touhou and 1943.
I can’t really answer as to why the Wii doesn’t have more FPS’s since I don’t own a Wii, and am not much of a FPS player (even though my steam games list begs to differ).
Though I am hoping that we move away from most AAA things being shooting games, since I’m tired of the genre…and want space sims/RPGs to make a resurgence :P
Amen!
Cheaper, more powerful, and versatile.
In a FPS game, if you pit a xBox player against a PC player, the PC player with a mouse would have the upper advantage over the xBox player using a controller.
Which makes me believe that the Wii would be great for FPS games. Why are there not a lot of FPS games on the Wii?
I must know of this source of cheap hardware that makes it as powerful as any professionally made PC today
And this is why I’m a PC gamer: It’s cheaper
(conversion rate: 1NZD = 0.809110 USD)
I just ran the coversion, 1300 NZ$ is the same as… US$1060.93. Yipe…
Please tell me that’s not the same as US dollars.
Because at that price there is NO excuse not to give them the middle finger and just build a top-of-the-line gaming PC for the same price. Or just a really good one for around $900. Or an average one for $600.
Yours today for $1299.99*”
*How much it’ll cost here (NZ) at launch
Only if your willing to pony-up the full retail price for it though.
Well at this rate, they’re going to be the only thing NOT in my living room.
The Saturn was actually far better at sprite based games than the PS1 but Sega wanted to jump on the 3D bandwagon because of all the hype around the Playstation instead of focusing on their real strength in 2D games. It cost them dearly
“Woah, woah, woah, calm down there Microsoft you’re getting a little too excited there.”
You honestly think the lack of games is the only reason people are condemning Microsoft?
Oh, you’re cute.
The logic is that this is supposed to be a gaming console. Not a media hub. If I want to stream TV and music as well as chat with others on Skype via video conference call and more, I’d go to my PC.

I was more of a 2D type of gamer, and the PS1 does it beautifully.
Different tastes, though I preferred N64 personally.
PS1 and N64 were both good consoles by the way.
Remember the awesome Sega Dreamcast?
Actually it CAN play used games…
Old timers. Its too bad Atari and Sega aren’t here anymore.
As much respect I have for Nintendo, I preferred the PS1 over the N64.
Sums it up quite nicely.
