I’d vote, but I agree with the headline yet disagree with the reasons from OP, so it evens out.

Balance! Beautiful, beautiful, balance.
Killjoy
Bullshit!
And thus the entire Brony Community has become the Forsaken Damned, left with no alternative but to go back to the church of Cybertron for salvation….
Faust abandoned her children, and they moved on without her. /Over The Top Preacher Voice
Then don’t watch it. The main series will still exist, and it’s highly unlikely this will have any effect on its quality.
It’s such a perversion of Faust’s vision!
How ’bout no?… :|
Boycott this movie, please…
Indeed, or even better if it was in fact Ponies going into an actual human world instead of just a humanized version of the pony world. But alas, this is what we got so the least we can do is hope for the best….
To be honest, I may give it a chance, but even if it is good, my reaction would be: Imagine what it could have been if they had something better than a human’s high school background.
We can still give it a chance while thinking it’s terrible. It just has to prove itself to use first.
You’re confusing the Cartoon Brew article with the Ms. Magazine one.
Hey… That’s true…
I’m a pround brony and I shall not judge a show before watchin it. /)*
Actually, the article that nearly kick-started the online fandom was from Cartoon Brew, not Ms. Magazine.
>Magical white ponies are suited for leadership; black ponies are suited to be servants.
>Stop learning! You will overcome any obstacle by resorting to strength in numbers (of friends).
>Girls that wear rainbows are butch.
>You need the government (ideally a monarch invested with supreme ultimate power and a phallic symbol strapped to her forehead) to tell you what to do with your life.
The answer to is a resounding “no” to every point raised in the incredibly stupid Ms. Magazine article. Seriously, if I didn’t know any better I’d say it was a parody. What does that question have to do with this article though? The Feminspire article is reasonable and is nothing like the retarded Ms. Magazine article.
>Feminist bullshit buzzwords like “Patriarchy,” “Objectification”, and “misogyny”
I know this will probably get off topic, but I don’t understand this. Are you denying that these concepts exist or something?
Do you mean the “end of creator-driven animation” thing? I think that’s more relevant to the situation than the Ms. Magazine idiocy.
No, it isn’t. And there are still many things MLP is doing very right.
But there are some problems (at least in EQG) that are worth talking about.
I don’t think that bad body image is even an exclusive feminist problem but rether a genetal mental health problem that just mostly affect woman.
It is a genuine question, since I’ve seen a lot of detractors bring up similar points to the article that birthed the fandom.
No? What’s your point?
Has My Little Pony become everything that the article from Ms Magazine was criticising it for?
I asked this during the alicorn controversy, and I’m asking it again now.
I have trouble envisioning that there still exists this alleged “girls wear skirts, or else they aren’t normal” oppression in society and that this show will somehow cause society itself to revert back to the rigid gender norms of yesteryear. I can, however, envision toy companies clinging to statistic that support the whole “appealing to the target demographic through sexist stereotypes thing” ,and ultimately, not capture reality accurately.
The most important part for these sort of shows is to not degrade people who don’t completely conform to the ideals of their gender and not say that there are “womanly” and “manly” things in the world and the punishment will be ridicule from your peers. Luckily, not once, during the entire original show’s runtime, have I seen this sort of gender policing done (no disparaging comments of Spike wearing an apron or Rainbow’s tomboyish behavior have been made) so I have faith that the designs are just executive meddling and the final product will be something much better and nuanced as far as gender politics is concerned.
This. It’s especially problematic with Rainbow Dash and Applejack.
